EUDP
Based on a proprietary technology and process, Green2x converts agricultural straw into biomethane and biogenic CO₂. The process compresses straw into briquettes, which are then fermented to produce biogas and subsequently upgraded to biomethane. The company is building its first full-scale facility at the Port of Vordingborg.
Before moving to commercial scale, Green2x will validate and document the performance of the process under real operating conditions, including biomethane yields, process efficiency and operational stability. This work is taking place at the company’s pilot plant on the island of Møn, which opened in June 2026.
1st Mile’s Work with Green2x
1st Mile helped Green2x secure DKK 23.9 million from EUDP’s 2026-I call for the Pilot Plant Møn project by advising on and writing the EUDP application. The project will validate and optimise the straw-to-biomethane process at pilot scale, with a focus on documenting yield and process efficiency. The project brings together a strong consortium of partners including Bollfilter Nordic, Rambøll, DTU and Aarhus University, combining industrial, engineering and research expertise to take the technology forward.
The results from Møn are intended to form the technical basis for Denmark’s first commercial straw-based biogas plant in Vordingborg, which is expected to cover over 9% of Danish gas consumption.
